Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 16 December 2025
Our Commitment
Edmonds Commerce is committed to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We keep improving the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to our website and services.
This statement was last updated on 16 December 2025.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Why WCAG 2.2 AA?
While we are not legally required to meet WCAG standards as a private sector website in the UK, we believe digital accessibility is good business practice and the right thing to do. WCAG 2.2 Level AA represents a reasonable and achievable standard that benefits a wide range of users.
Accessibility Features
This website includes the following accessibility features:
Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy and semantic elements throughout all pages. Clear document structure everywhere.
Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements work via keyboard alone. Navigate using Tab, Enter, and arrow keys. No mouse needed.
Focus Indicators: Clear visual indicators show which element has keyboard focus. Easy to see where you are for keyboard-only users.
Colour Contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios. 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text against backgrounds.
Responsive Design: Content adapts to different screen sizes and stays usable when zoomed up to 200%.
Reduced Motion Support: Respects prefers-reduced-motion browser settings. Animations disable or reduce for users who prefer it.
Alternative Text: Images and icons include descriptive alternative text where appropriate. Decorative images marked as such.
Form Labels: All form inputs have associated labels, clear error messages, and instructions. Helps users complete forms successfully.
Known Issues and Ongoing Improvements
We continuously monitor and test accessibility. As of December 2025:
No Known Critical Issues: We're not currently aware of any significant accessibility barriers on the site. All components respect reduced-motion preferences, keyboard navigation works throughout, and semantic HTML provides proper structure.
Testing Limitations: This website has not been audited by an external accessibility expert. Our conformance claims are based on internal assessment and automated testing.

Assistive Technologies
This website works with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers: JAWS, NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
- Keyboard-only navigation: All functionality is accessible without a mouse or pointing device
- Browser zoom: Content remains usable at up to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling (on desktop)
- Voice recognition software: Dragon NaturallySpeaking and similar voice control tools
We regularly test our website with modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and their built-in accessibility features.
Technical Specifications
Accessibility of this website relies on the following technologies to work correctly:
- HTML5: For semantic structure
- WAI-ARIA: Accessible Rich Internet Applications attributes where needed
- CSS: Cascading Style Sheets for presentation
- JavaScript: Used with progressive enhancement principles
We rely on these technologies for conformance with accessibility standards. If any are unavailable or disabled, some features may not work as intended, but core content should remain accessible.

Legal Framework
In the United Kingdom, the Equality Act 2010 governs digital accessibility. It protects people with disabilities from discrimination.
Equality Act 2010
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers (including website owners) have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure their services are accessible to people with disabilities. The Act does not specify technical requirements. WCAG 2.2 Level AA is widely recognised as the practical standard for web accessibility.
European Accessibility Act (EAA)
The European Accessibility Act came into force on 28 June 2025 in EU member states. As a UK-based company, we are not directly subject to the EAA. However, we recognise that accessibility is a universal value. We strive to meet or exceed international standards regardless of legal requirements.
Our Position
As a private sector website not primarily providing consumer-facing e-commerce, we are not subject to the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018. However, we voluntarily aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA as good practice. We want our content to be accessible to the widest possible audience.
Assessment and Testing
We assess the accessibility of this website through:
Self-Assessment: Regular internal reviews against WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria during development and content updates.
Automated Testing: Automated accessibility checking tools integrated into our development workflow to catch common issues.
Manual Testing: Keyboard navigation testing, screen reader testing, and colour contrast verification by our development team.
User Feedback: Listening to feedback from users with disabilities and assistive technology users to identify real-world issues.
This statement was prepared on 28 November 2025 and last updated on 16 December 2025 based on self-assessment. We review and update it at least annually or when we make significant changes to the website.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. We keep improving the accessibility of this website through:
Regular Audits: Periodic accessibility reviews of new and existing content. Ensures standards are maintained.
Training: Our development team understands accessibility best practices and keeps skills up to date.
Design System Evolution: Improving component accessibility as standards evolve and best practices emerge.
User Testing: Feedback from users with diverse abilities helps us spot real-world barriers.
Standards Monitoring: Keeping up to date with evolving accessibility standards, browser capabilities, and assistive technology changes.
We treat accessibility as a core part of quality. Not an optional extra. Every new feature is built with accessibility in mind from the start.
